This bowl measures 11" at it's base and is approximately 8" tall. It weighs a little over 3 pounds.
This vessel was made from Brooksville spalted pecan wood. The bowl was saturated in a special boatbuilders penetrating epoxy that stabilized the wood making it as hard as steel.
Gilding wax is used to color the wood and a clear finish has been sprayed over the wax creating a very durable finish.
The wood is carved before coloring with gilding wax. Many people who have viewed this bowl think it has a clay finish on it.
Because the vessel has a carved bottom it has placed on glass stands to reflect the bottom.
The bottom of this vessel is a great surprise.
The glass mirror and the felted glass tubes come with this bowl.
